Blogger, Comments, and I Need Your Help

Those of you on Blogger might have noticed lots of changes to your Dashboard, etc...

They have been making lots of changes and trying to get all the bugs worked out.

I'm curious about something though...

There are multiple people that tell me (via email or Facebook) that they cannot post a comment onto this blog.

Is this true??

Are the people having trouble on Internet Explorer?
Is it all my customization?  How come other people can?

These are all the questions traipsing through my thoughts at odd moments of the day.

Blogger has re-designed the comments field in all their "new construction."

For the people that haven't been able to post a comment--
have you tried since they changed and does it work now??

I don't want anyone's "blog" experience to be frustrating, especially while visiting here at Mishmash Maggie.

I've always wanted Mishmash Maggie to be the kind of place you could, you know, kick your shoes off and hang out-- in comfy clothes with no make-up and sipping your hot bevy of choice.

I want it to be like you stopping by my house and hanging in the living room.

Ever since Blogger made all these changes (and added a Stats function) my mind has been pondering lots of things... too many things...

Speaking of pondering-- (awkward transition coming up, hang on tight)
okay so, I think of this blog as your blog.

If you are a reader/visitor here, I want it to be pleasant, encouraging, and useful.

(Can you guess what my spiritual gifts and love languages are??)

Yes-- exhortation, teaching, and acts of service!

I am here to serve you.

I want to encourage you.

I want to be a resource for you.

I want to make you laugh :D

Back to the pondering thing...

I have been wondering... should I pull the "Pause and Ponders" off this blog and make a place just for them??

I don't know how it happened, but this has kind of turned into a "homeschool" blog.

Although my primary focus has always been to encourage women and point to Jesus.

Homeschool is part of our life so we share it.

But things have kind of changed and morphed and I'm not sure what to do.

So, I kinda need your help.

If you're here... do you enjoy the balance of having "Encouragement, Education, Everyday" or do you come mainly looking for homeschool stuff and really don't read/ listen to the other stuff?

Or do you come for more of the devotional/everyday stuff and don't really read the homeschool stuff?

I already pulled the knitting/sewing/ art stuff off because things were getting too busy.

But now I am thinking of streamlining even more.

Good idea? Bad idea?  Who cares, just gimme chocolate??

See, I told you I had a lot on my brain!

If you're not too busy... would you mind either leaving a comment-- if you can :/

or email one here:

Email Me

And let me know what you think about all this?

Thank you in advance and remember,

All comments are tax-deductible :)

I have no problem with submitting a comment on your blog. Not sure why someone would? Anyway, as someone who just became a follower of yours, I love your blog the way it is. I don't know what it was like with the knitting/sewing/art stuff, but I'm sure it was great then too. I enjoy your humor, your spiritual insight, and your blog personality. You and your blog are fun and quircky. I wouldn't change a thing. ;)

Lainie, I don't always get over here, but I try to read your blog a few times a month. Sometimes I don't comment, but I do read. And I like that there is a mix. there is only so much homeschooling I can take and only so much devotionals i can take, but the mix of the two seems to jive pretty well here. I subscribe to blogs that only talk about one thing and to be honest, that is boring. If you only did devotionals, I'd get bored. I know a few who do this and I just feel like I'm on Billy Graham's I don't feel like its comfortable because everything is about spiritual stuff. Not that life isn't all about God, but sometimes i want to be ok to say things like "I am having a bad day and it sucks" and not feel like I just made everyone's jaw drop because I was supposed to say "My life is wonderful and God is good". I often feel like that on blogs, but yours is a nice mix. I like that you have both homeschooling and devotional stuff. So please don't change it. The one thing I would like on the comments is the option to leave my URL and name instead of signing on with Google. I don't use blogger so I can't at all link back to my blog because I have to sign in with google.

Obviously, I've never had issues leaving a comment.

As far as what is 'contained' in your blog...I will have to say that I miss the variety of 'old school' Mishmash. The blog that was full of pics, funny Nana-isms, tips on how to eat/clean healthy, etc.

I agree with MB. I think variety is good in a blog. Yes, we blog and read blogs mostly for encouragement...but we need encouraged in every area of our lives. Faith, marriage, kids, school, homemaking, not taking life so seriously...

I say put it all on here. ALL of it. Show us YOU. Videos, homeschooling, knitting, random long winded posts on how you got to be where you are today...that's what I read for.

Ok, I have no problem leaving a comment. I visit your blog and check out a little of this and that. I am a home schooler, but I do enjoy all the material you put out there, minus the knitting and sewing- not my thing. I say do whatever you think you need to do. You have a great following, and a wonderful ministry.

Well, obviously I'm able to leave a comment, and I'm a Windows Explorer user, so that's a good thing! :)

I've only been an "official follower" of your blog for a couple of weeks, but I have had a link to your blog on my sidebar for two years now. You're one of my faves! :) I have always loved reading your homeschool posts because it gives me a glimpse of what's ahead in MFW, but I also agree with Kathi about loving so much of the old-school Mishmash Maggie--Nana, the kids' movie productions, your quest for healthy eating, and especially your Simple Woman's Daybook entries. LOVE THOSE!! I think I enjoy all of that because it makes it more than yet another homeschool blog. It makes me feel like, well, like I know you! (Creepy, huh? You have no idea who I am!) As for the Pause and Ponder . . . my speakers are messed up, or else I probably would listen to them. Same with the Midnight Chats and the Mishmash Family Science.

I have found that I enjoy getting to know people through their blogs--not just seeing an endless stream of their school projects. And I definitley feel like I know a little about you after visiting your blog for the past couple of years. But when it comes right down to it, I think your blog should be YOUR blog. You include what you want, and the rest of us can choose to either read parts of it or skip over them and enjoy others. Just my opinion. But I think what you're already doing is a great balance! :)

Well, I'm not having any trouble leaving a comment. I have had issues with Blogger, though. :( I'm not sure all the bugs are worked out of this new platform.

I read your blog often but don't often comment. I personally like seeing the variety here. "Seeing" what others do in their homeschool days can often be an encouragement to me. I like that you allow God to use you through your blog to be an encouragement to others. :-)

Love your blog, I vote to keep the variety!

I use explorer, I log on through blogger, and I comment. :)

I think the "editorialishness" of your blog is awesome. I don't check it everyday, but I'm always blessed when I do! I appreciate the encouragement and the teaching and the variety. And definitely the love. This is a safe place to come visit and it makes me feel loved.

Jen-- it made it! Yippee!

Lynda-- thanks for being here :)

MB-- I'll try to figure out how to do that (??) It might take awhile though...

Kathi-- you're awesome... thank you for your friendship

Ma'Nacci-- thanks for the encouragement to keep doing what I'm doing :)

Jennifer-- I am sooooo sad your speakers don't work :( FYI-- if you have an iPod-- the Midnight Chats and P&P's can be downloaded from iTunes. There is so much of "me" in those-- lots of prayer and heart go into each one.

Thank you for being on this journey with us!

Leah-- So sorry about Blogger issues-- it's frustrating, isn't it?

Becca-- thank you and your vote is confirmation to keep on doing what I have been! Thanks :)

Cyndi-- I already emailed you but let me just say again... that last sentence is the biggest honor I have ever received. Thank you...

Katie-kins! Miss you, love you girl. I hope to see you soon :)

Looking for something??
