Well I've Been Tagged! Eight Thoughtful Questions

Beaglemamma at Training Them Up has tagged me in a little Q & A session.

I liked reading through her questions and answers :)

She has come up with her own eight questions and has tagged this Mishmashy Momma :D

So, here we go...

1.  What's one thing about your hubby that still makes you weak in the knees?  Is it the same thing that gave you that feeling when you were dating, or has it changed with time?

Okay, this is a strange answer... but I am quirky remember?  When we were dating, Karl and I went to a Japanese restaurant that was teppanyaki style-- a chef cooks the food for you and the 6-8 other people (that you may or may not know) on an open grill at the table.

It was just a date for us so we were seated with strangers.  Our chef was great-- very animated and funny.  It wasn't long before everyone at the table was laughing and talking like old friends.  Well, the chef gestures to Karl that he is going to fling a sautee'ing shrimp into his mouth.  Karl smiles.  The chef flings the shrimp and Karl caught it!

Something about that moment... I just loved him more some how.

Okay, so fast-forward many years later.

He just came home from his new job on a beautiful summer day.  Abby, age 2, and I are outside playing.  I am pregnant with Charlotte.  Anyway, I look back to see why they aren't coming inside and my hubby, still dressed in nice slacks, dress shirt, and tie with his bag slung over his shoulder is kneeling down.

I peaked over and could see he has gently caught a grasshopper and is showing it to an amazed Abby.

I have no idea what it was about the moment except that I loved that he was so willing to be there and it didn't matter that he was in his work clothes or that he had work to do.  He sweetly and gently gave his time and his heart to his little baby girl.

I loved him more some how.

And still do, because even though he is so incredibly busy, he is the same sweet, gentle, thoughtful man.  In fact, even more so...

{{{sniff, sniff, blow!}}}

Getting teary over here.

Okay, moving on...

2.  How have you seen God working in your life lately?

Wow. What a question.  The Lord has done so much in my life (over the years) let me see if I can dial in on one thing of late.

He is working in my willingness to "be spent."  2 Corinthians 12:15 says,

And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls;
though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.

He working in me a desire to serve people (mainly my family) when it costs me something,
like time (when I would rather do something I want to do),
and to rely on Him for the strength and heart to do so.

It's very humbling and I get a full-color glimpse into just how selfish I really am/ can be.

Oh, and He is teaching me to "spend" myself without looking for any recognition or thanks.

Any prayers for me is greatly appreciated!

3.  Does your family have any favorite family traditions?

We aren't big "tradition" people but there are a few consistent things that we love like...

• Doing our read alouds together at night as a family

• Doing Character Sketches on Wednesdays and the weekends

I can't think of anything else right now... hmmm...

4.  What has one of your kids done lately that has caused you to laugh out loud?

My kids always say things that make me laugh!

This last Thursday we went to a burger place to celebrate Papa's birthday.  As we were leaving I noticed the tape measure-like thing on the doors and took a moment to teach the kiddos what that was (so if a place is robbed, the staff can give an estimated height as the robber is leaving).

Anyhoo, I asked, "Does anyone know why there are numbers on the door?"

We had our extra crew with us that night.  So glad they aren't camera shy!

Abby, my sweet petite who bemoans her small stature, replied,

"To make me feel bad?"

I love her height (and lack thereof!) :)

5.  If you could be alone in the car with a CD of your choice, what would it be?

I like mixes personally but I guess Tenth Avenue North "The Light Meets The Dark," Leeland's "Love Is On The Move," or a Gayle Erwin or Jon Courson teaching.

6.  Do you have a hidden talent, even if it's not something practical?  (For example, I can pick up almost anything with my toes!)

My children are convinced that the best meals I make are the ones I would call,

"Fly By The Seat of my Pants."

Time is of the essence, I have no ideas and/or recipes, so I look at what is available and make something happen (usually never to be duplicated.)  They love it!

7.  If the you of today could go back in time and tell the you of high school one thing, what would it be?

Without a doubt...

But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I actually wrote a post that was a conversation with a younger "me."
Reading it still gets me choked up.

8.  If money wasn't an issue and your schedule was free, what would you spend your days doing?

Remember the Lord is working contentment into my life!
Actually, I would do what I am doing.  The money thing would just allow great generosity in all things.. whether it be gift giving or a field trip across the U.S..

Oh, wouldn't that be fun to just fly off to Jamestown as we're studying it?

Okay so here is the deal.

I could never pick only 8 bloggers from the beautiful faces in the sidebar.

I will list questions... consider yourself tagged :)

If you write a post, come back here and let us know.

It's actually fun! Thanks Beaglemamma!!

Thanks for playing along, Lainie! I enjoyed reading all of your answers, but especially the first one. It amazes me how the thing that first drew me to my husband isn't the thing that I most cherish now. God has been faithful to grow us up together in Him.

Blessings to you today and all throughout your school year!

I forgot to add this, your answer to #1 brought tears to my eyes. That is so sweet and gentle. One of the things I think is most sexy about men is when they are being gentle and loving with their children.
