Week 13: Highlights

This week we covered Exodus 9:8 thru Exodus 12:30 (plagues of boils, hail, locusts, darkness and Death of Firstborn/Passover) as well as selected passages from Victor Journey.

I did a separate post for the boils. FYI- Scotch tape is very irritating on your face and neck. Don't do it if you don't have to.

itch, itch, itch

The kids completed a chart of the plagues. Here is Brigitta's:

In art, they did a lesson on creativity. Here is Leisl's:

Lesson 'C' on this page is a picture drawn with a continuous line. It's harder than it looks!

But at least easier than doing it with an Etch-A-Sketch (which is the same concept).

And speaking of Leisl, she was very adamant about "acting out" the Passover. As the first born, she wanted to be in the Hebrew camp and not the Egyptian.

We decided that the bedrooms would be the Hebrew houses so we taped torn construction paper on all the door posts to mimic the blood of the lamb which was the sign for the angel of Death to passover that house.

There is so much to talk about in regards to the Old Testament picture of the Passover to the New Testament truth of Jesus as our Passover Lamb. But I think I will take my time and post about it in April when we actually celebrate the Passover Feast according to the Jewish calendar.

The Captain was able to work in some science this week.

They did an experiment to observe some properties of salt:

They also tested the solubility of powdered sugar, aspirin and chalk.

I'm not sure why Kurt was dressed like a warrior for this experiment other than he's seven and a boy.

All-in-all it was a good week. We were a little busier due to Kurt and Brigitta's sensorimotor exam with the eye specialist. I'll be sharing more on that on Wednesday after they've had their first therapy appointment and I see the reports from their exams.

Week 14 here we come!
