Light Bulb!

I was doing my bible study this morning and had a major light bulb moment!

I am soooo glad the Lord permitted me to be sick! So, So, So, glad! He is so Faithful.

The Psalm I am studying this week is Psalm 125. Verses 1 and 2 are:

•They that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. •As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people from henceforth even for ever.

The word "trust" is defined as being confident, secure and sure.

I have learned and am still learning to be confident in His heart towards me, to be confident His faithfulness to me and to be confident in His care of me.

I have learned and am still learning to be secure in the salvation He provides, secure in the love that He lavishes and secure in His mercies that are new every morning.

I have learned and am still learning to be sure He is coming back for me, to be sure He is preparing a place for me and to be sure He is who He says He is according to Scripture.

But that wasn't my light bulb!

In this verse, the psalmist in trusting in the Lord. Ah, but in Psalm 30:6 and 7, we read:

•And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. •Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong; thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

In other words, the psalmist David is telling us that even though he knew and gave credit to the Lord for his prosperity, somewhere along the way he started to trust in the blessing of God rather than in God Himself.

I have referred in little bits and pieces here, and on Miscel(Lainie)ous, my chronic health issues and my new found health. (grin)

I know that even though so many people were pivotal in helping me, that ultimately it was God that healed and restored me. I knew that.

But what I did was trust in that blessing of health! Duh!

So that when I, thankfully, got so sick, for so long, it kinda threw me for a loop!

I started to question a lot of things in my heart like,

• was the good health only for a short season? •did I do something wrong and need correction? • was I not giving credit to God enough for my health?

I was so close but I didn't get it.

It wasn't until this morning, that He showed me I was trusting in my health, that I knew He gave me, and not in Him.

I love how quick He is to draw us close to Him when we realize the errors in our thinking, repent and ask forgiveness.

Here is the remainder of Psalm 30(verses 8-12).

All emphasis is mine, straight from my joyful, little heart.

• I cried to thee, O Lord; and unto the Lord I made my supplication.

•What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? [In other words, what good is my health, I will die eventually!] Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

• Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord be thou my helper.

• Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

• To the end that my glory may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Ahhh, amen.
