Our First Day

I didn't take one picture today! Oops! Maybe tomorrow...

We started school today and except for one minor meltdown (not me) it went great. We actually got through everything that was scheduled.
I love that about MFW.
We did-
•Bible and memory verse work
•Greek vocab (see side bar each week to learn with us)
•Spelling
•English
•Math
•Science (Dinosaurs of Eden & Genesis for Kids)
•Our history timeline and history notebooking
and
•Art/Art History

This last subject is where our meltdown occurred. Lesson #1 is titled, "Lessons on Frustration." Very, very appropriate title unfortunately. We learned about great artists (Michaelangelo, Rembrandt, Monet etc...) and their frustration with their own work. We then learned about Joni Eareckson Tada, a paralyzed artist who draws and paints with a brush held between her teeth.

Our exercise was drawing a butterfly while holding the pencil between our teeth. Unfortunately, I forgot that Kurt's top two front teeth are loose. Oops. He was trying to be a trooper and not complain but of course since he couldn't grip with his teeth tightly he was, well, beyond frustration.

We finally figured out what the problem was, I apologized for forgetting and he came down and gave it another shot. This time I just had him use his non-dominate hand to draw and he got the point that it's hard. Whew.

Other than that it was a good, full day.

I'll leave you with a Joni Eareckson Tada Christmas card. Truly, with God all things are possible.

I remember watching the movie about Joni and feeling so frustrated for her when she was trying so hard for everything. What a trooper for the Lord and what beauty the Lord brought out of such a tragic accident. Wonder if she would have been an artist if she could have used her hands?

Looking for something??
